Finance & Research Team Visitations
One of the functions of the FHEC is to assess and review HEIs and allocate government funding accordingly. The purpose of the visits was to present and discuss the outlines for funding models, record of learning (ROL), and quarterly Acquittal & Progress Reports for Operating Grants. The FHEC informed the HIEs of how capital grants were calculated and allocated to each institution..

17th-18th March – Labasa Savusavu
The FR team visited four HEIs in Labasa and Savusavu. Apart from discussions on the 3 outlines, the FR team was to review the progress of the FNU Labasa Campus capital project. Listed below are the HEIs which the FR team visited:
- Sangam Institute of Technology
- Northern Christian Training Centre
- Fiji National University – Labasa Campus – Site inspection of classroom block that was funded last year. The newly constructed facility would enable the FNU to accommodate for educational programmes up to the degree level and address the needs and demands for a more qualified workforce in the Northern division.
- Montfort Technical Institute Savusavu
Following each visit, the HIEs were then well-versed with the 3 outlines; and a report on the site visit to the FNU Labasa Campus was presented to the Office of the Prime Minister. The entire process has contributed to the continuous development and improvement of education and training in Fiji.
